Help East African immigrant and refugee youth succeed in school. Horn of Africa Services (HOAS) is seeking volunteers to tutor youth from East African countries (Ethiopia, Sudan, Somalia, and Eritrea).
Most of the tutoring involves helping the students (grades 2–12) with their homework from school. The evening tutoring program takes place at HOAS’s office in southeast Seattle on Mondays, Tuesdays, Wednesdays, and Thursdays from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m.
They also have a second program in north Seattle on Mondays and Wednesdays from 4:30 to 6 p.m. Volunteers just need to commit to one evening per week. For more information, contact jamiem@hoas.org, or www.hoas.org.
